As you know, Mrs. B and I love to make all types of healthy cuisine for all types of ocassions. Whether it is for family celebrations, reunions, birthdays, holidays, seasonal events or just everyday, healthy cooking and eating is always possible particularly the foods that African Americans prefer!
Yet Mrs B and I are also aware that we can dramatically reduce our chances of developing certain chronic disease or bad health situations, if we cook and eat healthier foods on a daily basis. That's why this new Stroke Awareness Campaign for African Americans is so important.
Recently, Mrs. B and I were informed of a new public health awareness campaign focusing on African Americans and Stroke. Stroke is the number #3 cause of death and disability among African Americans. Did you know that the risk of stroke in African Americans is TWICE as high as in white Americans? Stroke is very important to me because I have close family members who have had strokes and they are stroke survivors. One family member is very close to me. She is doing very well and has educated me about how she has adapted to everyday living while being stroke survivor!
The Ad Council and American Stroke Association have released this Public Service Announcement to raise awareness and help save lives in our community. Check out their video:
